A number of organisations represent the interests of independent schools. Lord Lexden worked with them all when he was General Secretary of the Independent Schools Council between 1997 and 2004. One of them, the Independent Schools Association, which acts on behalf of some 300 independent schools of all types and sizes, has now invited him to become its President.
The Association said, “we have been deeply impressed by your record of contributing to educational matters and feel that our values would be enhanced if you were able to accept the position”. In reply Lord Lexden said he looked forward to working closely with the Association as its President, a post that he will take up in May 2013.
