Monday, 14 June, 2021
n

For centuries, married women had no legal rights.  Caroline Norton(1808-77), the formidable and fearless wife of an abusive husband, started the movement which ended married women’s subjection. Her story is the subject of  Antonia Fraser’s latest book. The attached review of it by Alistair Lexden was published in The House Magazine on 14 June.
