He received his badge of office on May 17 at the Association's annual conference, held this year at Eastbourne on the theme of school leadership. The Association represents the heads of some 300 independent schools of different types including preparatory,senior and all-age schools, many of them small in size.
Alistair Lexden said: "I have long been involved in defending the interests of independent schools. I shall do all I can to assist the growing success of the ISA".
