Lord Lexden was one of the principal guests at the annual dinner in London of the British Council of International Schools (COBIS).
The Council's Patron is HRH Princess Alexandra who takes a close interest in the excellent education provided by the Council's 105 member schools throughout the world.
The schools are organised along the same lines as the best of our independent schools and are inspected under arrangements agreed with Ofsted and the Independent Schools Inspectorate which Lord Lexden, then Alistair Cooke, helped to establish when he was General Secretary of the Independent Schools Council. At that time he worked closely with Roger Fry CBE, now President of COBIS, who introduced him to Her Royal Highness before the dinner on 9 May.
